How to find us

Salviac is a few kilometres from the Gîte and is a lively market town in the Northern Lot, very close to the Dordogne region, giving a wide variety of places of interest to explore.

There are a good range of restaurants locally, bars, hairdressers, a pharmacy, doctors surgery, tabac and a small supermarket. Tuesdays and Friday mornings there is a small market in the village and in Gourdon, just 15 minutes drive away, there is  a mid-week and Saturday morning large market too. Other local villages offer colourful markets  with an abundance of  fresh vegetables, fish, duck and goose related produce, Cahors wines and flowers.

Tennis courts and a large municipal swimming pool are just 2 kms away.

Local Places of Interest

GOURDON has fortress remains on a hill in the town centre, wonderful medieval streets to explore and is ringed with many shops, bars and restaurants.

CAHORS, the capital city of the Lot just 39 kms away is an endlessly fascinating place dating back to at least the first century BC. It hosts a cathedral and street markets are held around it twice weekly. There are beautiful gardens, museums and art galleries and those famous pavement cafes. Cahors features amongst the oldest vineyards in France dating back to the Gallo-Roman era. Nearby one can discover one of the most beautiful villages in France ST CIRQ LAPOPIE.

ROCAMADOUR, set on a spectacular  clifftop is a Christian site and one of France’s most  popular pilgramage destinations.

DOMME, just 22kms away is yet another medieval village located on a rocky peak overlooking the Dordogne valley. It is a bastide town and famous for the Knights Templars.

Many local chateaux are within easy reach, most producing fine wines to taste and purchase.  The Quercy region is famous for Foie Gras, truffles, duck produce and goats cheese.

Activities are endless in this area ranging from numerous chemins to amble along, canoeing, fishing lakes and exceptionally quiet roads to cycle.
La Tour Val Vert is directly placed on the GR46, a major chemin in the area. There is in fact a network of some 12,000 km of local footpaths. Golf and horse riding are also available locally.

Prehistoric Caves are numerous: Grottes de Cougnac, Gouffe de Padirac, to name but two well known ones.

The summer months host local fetes and music festivals to suit all tastes, they are a great source of entertainment.

We boast a very special but not expensive restaurant in our area, “La Recreation” it is within easy reach and features in the well known book by American Author Michael Sanders “From here you can’t see Paris”.

Getting Here

The Budget airlines serve  Bergerac, Toulouse and Rodez airports, all convenient for La Tour Val Vert. It the not too distant future a further option will be available from Brive Airport.
